Despite two duds in this review, R11.2 was enough of a bright spot. I’m going to repeat what I said in my SWMS C5 review: SMWS should put more focus on their Malternative releases to relieve some stress from the Scotch single malt releases.
Sometimes we have to ask difficult questions of the industry – because few others will. And that’s what we’ve done with the SMWS, who many veterans in the whisky community are starting to fall out of love with. To their credit, the SMWS respond.
Edit: Since I’ve written this post, the Scotch Malt Whisky Society has changed hands. It’s become a much less appealing operation, sacrificing what it was..
